What is a Favorite?
A Favorite is a light/sound combination that you use over and over again. It's your bedtime go-to, diaper change helping hand, and your late night feeding partner.
On the Hatch Sleep app home screen, favorites appear as either a circle, or square. Circles mean the sound contained in the Favorite is a free sound, available to all Rest users. Squares mean the sound contained in the Favorite is only available with an active Hatch Sleep Membership.
Favorites are fully customizable and more accessible than ever on Rest 2nd Gen. There are 2 ways to play your Favorites at the tap of a finger.
Playing Favorites from the Hatch Sleep app
On Rest 2nd Gen all of your Favorites are on the Home screen in your Hatch Sleep app. Simply tap the Favorite you'd like to play and your Rest will get it started.
If you're not in the same room as Rest, you'll be able to tell that the Favorite is playing by looking at the Hatch Sleep app. When a Favorite has started, the Mini Player at the bottom of your screen will display what Rest is playing.
You can tap the Stop button on the right of the Mini Player at any time to stop Rest from playing. By tapping anywhere on the Mini Player bar, the Expanded Player will open. This is where you can make adjustments to the light, sound, volume and brightness settings of your Favorite on the fly.
Please note: These adjustments do NOT save to your Favorite. They will only adjust the Favorite that is currently playing. By tapping into a different Favorite, any adjustments to volume or brightness will NOT carry over. These will default to the original settings of the new Favorite you selected.
Playing Favorites using the touch ring
On Rest 2nd Gen all of your Favorites are accessible via the touch ring on top of your Rest. Simply tap the metal touch ring on top of your Rest – a finger, elbow, chin or even toe will do – to start the first Favorite in your list. Keep tapping until you find the Favorite you want to play.
At any time, you can turn Rest off by tapping and holding the touch ring for about 3 seconds. Adjusting the brightness and volume are easy with the buttons on the back of your Rest.

Setting a Timer for a Favorite
Timers are great for keeping little ones on schedule. Whether it's for some last-minute playtime before bed, keeping tabs on how long they're watching firetruck videos on Youtube, or making sure afternoon naps don't turn into all day affairs, Rest is here for you.
While a Favorite is playing, you can use the Hatch Sleep app to set a Timer.
To set a Timer while a Favorite is playing:
- Expand the Player by tapping the Mini Player bar at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap the 3 dots on the top right of the Player to open the Options menu.
- Tap "Set a Timer" to open the Timer menu.
- Set the Timer by scrolling to your ideal length of time. Then, tap "Start Timer".
- Your Timer will start immediately and when time is up, Rest will turn off.
